Company’s support provides the equivalent of 10 million meals to help feed families struggling with hunger
MINNEAPOLISDec. 31, 2014 – Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (NYSE: AMP), together with its employees and advisors, donated $12 million and volunteered more than 66,000 hours at nonprofit organizations in 2014. Support from the company and its people will aid programs that help individuals in need and build stronger communities, with particular focus on combatting domestic hunger. In continuation of its national partnership with Feeding America® and through support to hunger-relief nonprofits, Ameriprise has provided the equivalent of 10 million meals for families facing hunger.
“The nonprofits we support are important partners in helping enrich the lives of people who rely on their services,” said Brian Pietsch, head of community relations at Ameriprise. “Our efforts provide financial fuel and volunteer support to help them do what they do best – serve more people and build more vibrant communities.”
Company volunteerism sets new high
Ameriprise employees and advisors set a new record of volunteerism in 2014, culminating on the company’s annual day of service. On Nov. 14, more than 12,500 Ameriprise volunteers participated in more than 550 events across the country to help prepare and package meals for families ahead of the holiday season. The day’s events resulted in more than 1,000,000 meals, or enough to feed nearly 1,000 people for a year.
Giving campaign participation far exceeds national average
In addition to donating their time through volunteering, Ameriprise employees and advisors gave generous financial support to the nonprofits they care about in 2014. More than 80 percent of employees participated in the company’s annual giving campaign, far surpassing the national average of 43 percent at companies with workplace giving campaigns.[1] Employees participating in the campaign have the flexibility to make contributions to their favorite charities and have their donations matched by the company.
Corporate grants support nonprofits where Ameriprise people lend their time and talent
Ameriprise develops deep relationships with the nonprofits it supports by aligning its grant-making program with organizations where its people contribute their time, money and expertise. The company’s grants are dedicated to programs that help feed and provide shelter to people in need, foster community development, expand public access to the arts, and support volunteer efforts to build stronger communities. Highlights of recent grants include:
L.A. Kitchen, Los Angeles, Calif.
L.A. Kitchen reclaims healthy, local food that would otherwise go to waste and uses it to feed hungry people in the Los Angeles area. The nonprofit also prepares unemployed individuals—particularly youth aging out of foster care and adults exiting the prison system—for careers in the food service industry through its unique, hands-on jobs training program.

Common Ground, New York, N.Y.
Common Ground works to end homelessness through transitional and permanent supportive affordable housing, and by operating the largest street outreach program in New York City. The grant from Ameriprise funds their Street to Home Initiative, which will move 600 homeless individuals into housing with services.

Living Classrooms Foundation, Baltimore, Md.
The Living Classrooms Foundation inspires young people to achieve their potential through hands-on education and job training. Since its inception in 1985, Living
