Vice President of Retirement & Protection Strategies, Ameriprise Financial

Kara Sherman is the Vice President of Retirement and Protection Strategies for Ameriprise Financial. In her role, Sherman helps advisors and their clients identify insurance, annuities and investment products and solutions to grow and protect income through retirement.

Sherman joined Ameriprise Financial in 2002 as a financial advisor and rose through the field leadership organization. She joined the protection arm of Ameriprise Financial in 2007, serving as a senior regional vice president in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island where she consistently achieved strong results and ranked among the top three of 22 territories in annual advisor satisfaction every year. Sherman was then named Divisional Vice President for the East Region of annuities before assuming the role of Vice President – first for insurance in 2021; and then over both insurance and annuities in 2022.

Sherman holds industry licenses as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certificant (CFP^®), FINRA Series 7, 24, and 66 registrant, and Life, Health, Disability and Variable Annuities licensee. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in English.
